Wooden craft with a history
Nutcrackers, incense-smoking figures, Christmas pyramids, angels and miners are characteristic of the Ore Mountains. Their production combines turning, carving, sawing, assembly and painting.
Mining and woodworking both shaped the region. Household objects and toys developed alongside Christmas figures and candleholders in many workshops and families.
Light connects several traditions, from window arches to the candleholders of angel and miner figures. When choosing a piece, look for clear information about its maker, origin and workmanship.
