A textile tradition from the Vogtland
Plauen lace grew from the region’s textile and embroidery traditions. Machine-embroidered tulle lace marked an important development in 1881. Plauen lace received the Grand Prix at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900.
Its patterns appear on clothing and home textiles, including table linen and Christmas window decorations. Delicate designs rely on careful pattern development and embroidery.
Opened in 2023, Fabrik der Fäden in the Weisbachsches Haus explores Plauen’s textile history. Check the city’s current information for exhibitions and visits.
